I have been a physical therapist since 1994 when I earned my Masters Degree from Shenandoah University in physical therapy after earning my Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Richmond.
I have worked in a wide variety of settings ranging from Inpatient Care and Rehab, Outpatient Clinics, Assisted Living facilities and Home Health Care. During my career, I have treated about every diagnoses there is from adolescence to patients over 100 years old!
I am a strong believer that a lot of the pain we suffer from is myofascial. This includes all muscles, connective tissue, fascia within muscles and around organs, ligaments, and tendons. Although pain can come from many sources including nerves, bones and organs, frequently myofascial pain is overlooked and goes untreated or is treated in areas other than the source.
I have a strong manual therapy background including deep soft tissue mobilization, joint alignment, myofascial release, counterstrain and am certified in dry needling. I also believe exercise is critical to restore function of tissues, strengthen weak areas and balance posture to maximize function.
My mission is to serve women in my community, like myself, who want to manage the effects of aging and injury that can limit activities of daily living and the things that we love to do!
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, hiking, running, skiing, and playing golf and look forward to many more years of an active lifestyle!
